REHABILITATION OF THE ALCOENTRE HEALTH CENTRE, 2024 - ON GOING
The Alcoentre Health Centre, Azambuja is currently closed due to the level of water infiltration and the resulting water ingress inside the building. The gross floor area is approximately 254.42 m² and it is set within a total intervention area of around 864.00 m².
It presents a significant state of degradation, resulting from prolonged infiltrations and rising damp that have affected its structure and finishes. The proposed intervention aims to restore usability and comfort conditions, ensuring durability, compliance with current requirements and energy efficiency, while preserving and clarifying the building’s image and identity.
The spaces will be reorganised in a functional and accessible way, prioritising natural light and the creation of clear and healthy environments. Carpentry and finishes will be replaced with durable and low-maintenance materials, consistent with the overall architectural language, and exposed concrete surfaces will be restored in the interior.
