PRIMARY SCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN OF VALE DO PARAÍSO, 2023-EM CURSO
The intervention site covers an area of 4,470.00m², with no urban references or pre-existing structures, located in Vale do Paraíso, Azambuja, where the Municipality of Azambuja intends to build a school. The site presents a 5-metre topographical variation between its highest and lowest points, with a public road to the northwest.
The proposal was developed considering the current conditions of the site, while also anticipating the demographic growth already being felt in the area. The project includes the possibility of future expansion, allowing the building to evolve into a larger complex with the integration of a nursery and kindergarten, as well as the expansion of the primary school area with two additional classrooms.
As an educational facility, the architecture is based on flexibility and the multifunctionality of its spaces, promoting the shared use of areas between administrative, pedagogical and management functions, always aiming to ensure the well-being of all users.
The architectural design, developed in close coordination with landscape architecture, gives rise to dynamic outdoor courtyards and spaces, with a small amphitheatre as a central element. These spaces include play areas and sculpted landscape zones that allow for both the creation of embankments and the planting of tree and shrub species. This composition establishes a meaningful relationship with the surrounding vegetation structure, encouraging in children a sense of discovery, curiosity and wonder.
This new school aims to offer a diversity of experiences, environments and pedagogical approaches, while simultaneously promoting diversity and cohesion. The intervention seeks to integrate the best contemporary technologies and practices, with a strong focus on energy efficiency and sustainable resource management.
The adopted solutions reflect not only a careful attention to the aesthetic dimension of the building, but also a firm commitment to functionality, efficiency and environmental sustainability.
